American River 8/21

I fished the American from 3:00 -5:30. It was my first time trying out my new 7 wt. and my first time swinging nymphs. I got 5 grabs 3 hookups and landed 1, unfortunatley it was a pikeminnow. but I am pretty sure one of the fish i hooked was a steelhead because it went 25 yards downstream! I will probably go out tommorow morning :)

Good work Guppy! I too went out this morning and landed a nice steelhead on an undertaker #8. Keep at it!

ok it might not have been 25 yards but it took off the second it felt my fly and it went pretty far downstream.

Mike, I like the new rod it casts great and it is comfortable when fighting fish.

Scott, I might join you next wednesday. I think watt would be a better choice right now because this morning i got skunked

You guys are getting me amped up to fish for halfpounders. I only went out once in the last week and I got skunked. The rest of the time I've been too busy (outrigger canoe race at Donner Lake, work, car servicing, etc.). I'm going to hit it hard this weekend. Jeff
