I guess going out very early is the ticket here in the valley heat.
Try to get up to higher elevations or go over to our cool Pacific coast.
Looks like it will be in the low 90s for the next 10 days here in Sacramento.
Not bad for August.........

I would go to the Pacific coast of CA or Oregon for some surf and/or inshore fly fishing.
Check with "Western Sport Shop" in Santa Rosa, "Ernie's Casting Pond" in Soquel or the "Eureka Fly Shop" for some coastal salt water info.

This is a good time for the high country (8,000'+). Back packing or horse packing up in the Sierras is a great summer get away.
"Kennedy Meadows Pack Station" has done a great job for fly fishers for years.
