I went up to the North Fork American on Saturday to spend the evening with my brother and nephews who were camping there. Had a little time in the evening to fish before dark and caught 3 little smallmouths. No pics, forgot to grab the camera, but nephew number 2 did get to land one of them. Water's low and warm, perfect for swimming and hanging out in.

Next morning I headed on up the hill to check out the "fabled" midget bass of Rucker Lake.

Turns out it's true. I caught about 2 dozen of these little dudes in about an hour and a half. Should be a great place to take kids, as long as they have some sort of watercraft. These fish are very willing to smack a small clouser.

What are these guys doing in the mountains?

The campsites here look great, but you have to walk everything from your car down to the campsites.

Little mini bass, too cool Ed. Looks like a nice place to car camp also.

So how did that Oscar fight; closest thing we will see to a peacock in these parts.

Hi Charlie, the greenie's fought much better than the tiny bass. Made me think I'd found something bigger.

I like the campsites, despite the fact that they are all "hike in"spots. A person could camp there as a base and fish in any number of lakes in the area. Ed
