Had a great morning fishing above the bridge yesterday. I had not fished the Yuba this year and was pleased to see the fishery very healthy. No surface activity, but my second cast with a nymph rig resulted in a fat 18 incher that thought it was 25".

Netted 10 in the 3.5 hours I was there but fought and lost another 10 or so. All were 14" plus, with an average around 16". Here was the smallest:

and another 18 incher:

Caught all on the same #16 beadhead Fox Pupah (worm brown body) under a stonefly nymph. That Pupah still has its antennae after all of that, although the hook looks a little bent out:

There were no other fishermen. Is there some sort of panty plague that keeps fishermen out from above the bridge, Zonker?

James took me out last summer above the bridge and we had a blast. I need to get back up there soon.

Wow, a favorable report from the river "Y". Nice job Don, and thanks for sharing. Looks like I may have to put the clubs away for a day and get up there.

The Lower Yuba River was impacted by a very high water run off three years ago but has made some what of a come-back this year, finally.

Early and/or late in the day might be best this time of year?
