decent late afternoon surface catching of palm sized up to 12" rainbows and browns between hangman's and the usgs gage ; don't get hooked on one spot or the looks of things. The fish are scattered.

Best patterns were #14 rubberleg yellow stimulators in the pocket water, and #20 midge emergers in the flat pools. The fish snapped at hoppers, but did not hook up, so went small.

Good flows (higher, but wadeable) and water color (a little color). Windy.

Hangmans to Markleeville hole is fishing really poorly right now. I think most of the fish moved down lower. From Markleeville hole down is fishing pretty well in the mornings and evenings on dry flies. Yellow double humpies were the fly of choice when I netted 20+ fish on 7/3. Yellow sallies, yellow stimulators and yellow pmds also did well.

I actually was there on the same day as bigbill. I saw only 2 other fishermen; also catching fish, that day.
