The subject rod is no doubt a fantastic casting rod and especially loved by tournament casters.

Also, I've yet to really find a local application that warrants such a fine rod when other far less expensive saltwater 6s fit the bill nicely. In other words, why drive a Ferrari when a Honda is more than adequate.

On the other hand, I'd like to hear where this rod (Ferrari) really shines by those that have taken it afield (Belize, Xmas, Andros, Keys, Gulf Coast, even Oahu) and really put it to the test in weather conditions where perhaps being frugal does not pay.

In summary, if it's possible, I'd like to know when the subject rod is a 'nice to have' and when is it absolutely necessary to get the job done.

Thanks.

I would try it with a 5 and a 6 weight forward floater.

For wading for Bones the casting is short so I might put a WF7F Saltwater series line on it.

Out of a boat for longer casts you might like a WF6F Bonefish line which is stiffer.

The Sage 690-4 Xi2 is pretty popular for light salt water.
