Go Brook Trout fishing!
Hit my favorite Brookie spot yesterday with Scott V. Still pretty early spring up there. Lots of snow around still. Sure can't tell it's a drought year up there.

Seemed like water everywhere on the walk in. Wildflowers haven't come on yet either. Very nice weather, even got rained on.

The best cure for the Valley heat is 8000 ft of elevation. Does wonders for the spirit too. Ed

This creek is still kind of cold, 48 degrees early on and warming all the way up to 50 in the late afternoon. Had to work at it, which is unusual for here, but we did manage to catch a few. I think what I like best about this spot is the scenery.
When we left it was getting downright cold. Here's some fishing shots of Scott.

And last and least, we did catch fish from this creek too.

What a fun trip, and I got my first brookie. I'll post pics tomorrow. And who would have thought we would have gone through snow, of course not alot of snow but enough to where I decided to go around it instead of slipping and sliding. Plus I got to break in my new back pack. It was definetly a great day adventure, and thanks to Ed I wasn't left for dead in the wilderness. He never once complained about all my stops and breaks on the way back. At points I would go 15-20 steps and have to stop becuase of how step it was, atleast for me. But the best part is I lost 5 lbs from that trip, so a few more trips and I will be at a weight I haven't seen in a long time.

Oh yeah and it was dry flies all day, even when the rain came.

I think if we all ran around with Ed and David we would lose weight.

It is wonderful that the back country is still there for our enjoyment.

I couldn't leave you behind Scott, you not only had the flask, but you also cleverly held onto the car keys.

That trail is great, it's uphill both ways. The best scenery you could possibly hope for and very few people. There was a big pile of bear poop on the trail too. I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure I saw some khaki colored nylon threads in it.

Gonna have to go back in for an overnighter in a couple of weeks. The flowers will be in bloom, the baby mountain quail will be out , and the fishies will be much more cooperative.

I didn't even mention Scotty's initial introduction to snow on the trail. You'd just have to ask him about the "ski run".

Ski run  yeah straight into the creek, but I stayed on my feet. :D

Drought? what drought? I am hiking through snow in mid June.

Seeing this waterfall on the way back means you are almost home, to me it was the prettiest site in the world.

Here is where Phil's camo could have come in handy, see the stealth work through the bush.

My very first Brookie, this made the whole trip come together.

I almost striped down and crawled into this waterfall, maybe next time. I just love waterfalls.
