went out on the American river to see if i could get a striper tried the fly rod for nothing so i switched to a spinning rod with a zara spook. tried that for nothing. i switched back to the fly rod. 5th cast i threw the clouser minnow out towards the edge of the current. I let it sink and then my line zips out and Fish-ON. after a LONG battle with the striper . i finally brought him to shore he was only 15 inches bought he felt heavier with my 5wt.

Nice job Guppy. I hope to get out to the river one of these days for stripers. We will get together one of these days.

With these flows those little guys fight pretty hard as they know how to use the current. Nice looking fish too. Caught a few that size this year and they've all been very healthy looking as well.

Going to try to make it out today and see what bites....
