Rob, I'm dying to know how you like that 17-40 L

I am dreaming about trying that lens

Do you have any other sample pics for me to see?

Almost Everything on my Smugmug album was taken with the 17-40mm f4L . The photos you took of the girls are very very sharp . What lens did you use , was that with you 40D ?? The bad thing about the 17-40 mm is they have some that need to be sent back to be re-calibrated as i did . The fish photo was taken with the 50mm 1.8 II . a 78.00 lens . It's the sharpest lens i have . Zoom lenses have never been know for being the sharpest . You have to find the sweet spot , as far as best Fstop at a given mm to be very sharp . But , almost all my photos are hand held , so before i get to down on my 17-40 , i need to see what it will do with a tripod !!!!!

Here is the smugmug site .

This is a 200% crop of the fish and look how sharp it is , i can't do that with my 700.00 lens . That's only a 10'' fish .

Rob, I hope to buy that Canon 50mm 1.8 lens soon! I keep on hearing and seeing great sharp pictures taken with it.

I used the 28-135mm kit lens for some of the model pictures and the sigma 17-40 lens for some of the others.

I am not too excited about the kit lens, I want the sharpness to be improved with better lenses. Now all I need is a bunch of money

Here are a few shots i took at various things in the house and yard , testing the 17-40 mm. All hand held .

Rob, that is an awesome picture and it looks a lot like the the other old house with the rainbow.

As far as the 50mm f/1.8, it is a cool little lens and i use mine a lot for panoramas. It is great for the price.

Thanks

The mountain in the background is the same , it's the north end of the Wellsvilles . I love going to that area , nothing but miles of open country .

He was from some friends here in Cache Valley Utah . Don't think they are raising any more . He was a monster as a pup , but leveled off at 65 lbs . I have always loved Labs , but never had a yard big enough until we moved here . He sure loves working in the water.
