I've been looking at the Forest Service Rentals for a couple of years. The Van Vleck Ranch looks good also. You'd have to reserve it right when it becomes available, that's waaaay in advance. They book up immediately. They are dirt cheap if you can get a reservation. Ed

I stayed at Camp Sacramento up Hwy 50 back in the mid-80's. It's a family oriented operation but not too good for fishing. Good for lazying around, tho. Not familiar with Harvey West Camp.

Another good one is the Stockton Muni Campground on Silver Lake off Hwy 88....

The only problem with all of these is that they are difficult to reserve as they get very crowded after schools out. :) :)

My aunt has a cabin a mile above Camp Sacramento on Hwy 50.

There are hundreds of cool places to stay in the Sierras.

Some friends stay every summer at Packer Lake in the Gold Lakes Basin.

Other friends stay at Trinity Alps Resort on Trinity Lake.

We like the rustic cabins at the Cave Springs Motel right in Dunsmuir on the Upper Sac.

There was a Boy Scout camp at Upper Echo Lake years ago called Camp Harvey West. It was the gate way to the Desolation Wilderness area. Spent many summers there in my youth.
