Well, I couldn't find the last post we had all these on... Could we make this a sticky post?

We were in the delta Saturday, 5/17/08, and registered temps from 78-83 degrees...

Wow......I think it was in the low '60s for our Lundborg event on May 3rd?

Kevin Doran emailed me that he likes 62 to 78 for top water LMB in the Delta.

I would say that having a tide movement is good.

And maybe early and late in the day too.

I believe KD likes April through October on average. Year to year this can change a bit too.

Getting out with KD or Jerry N is the best way to learn some of the variables of this great fishery.

I launched out of Wimpy's at dawn on Saturday and fished Hog Slough early and then the North Mokelomne, the Moke above Wimpy's, and the lower Cosumnes. Water temps early were in the 70-72 range. When I went up to the Cosumnes, temps in the Moke below the confluence were around 74-75 and over 76 in the Cosumnes. Interestingly, the Moke above the Cosumnes was only 71.

I thought I was going to have a really good day when I got my first topwater strike 10 minutes after I started casting. (LDR'd the small largemouth on his second jump cause he hit while I was adjusting my hat. )

Unfortunately, the action was cold after that. Total for the rest of the day (tile 3:00): one missed hit on the surface and one bluegill caught on a wooly bugger.

At least the air was cooler on the water than when I got off it.

Cameron Park is 82 degrees, it felt like a bath tub last night. It made for a nice night on the water.

Launched out of Wimpy's again today. (No 8-yr-old this time.)

Water temps were only 62-63. No topwater action. :(

Did find a couple of small stripers subsurface.

June 8th around 3:00 pm on the Silverfork temp was reading 54 degrees in the top part of the water in an area with full sunlight. Didn't fish, just wanted to check temp and clarity. Water was real clear and flow was real nice. I plan to fish it in about 2 weeks.

Terry,

Was that the lower river around Watt Avenue?

It was over 2500 last night 6/9 at the Log Hole and rising fast so the temps should drop more.

9 a.m.- Upper Sunrise. They began the increased flows @8 a.m. I only fished until 10 a.m. Perhaps the rising flows put the fish off some. Had a few grabs (shad) with a couple landed.
