I was out there on 4/19. Air temps were upper 60's. The wind kicked in early around 10:00 A.M. Breezy most of the day.

I float tubed and had success on #10 Olive Damsel fly nymphs(subsurface) and Deer Hair Frog pattern for top water. Unfortunately I wasn't there for the early evening fishing( 6-7:30 PM) so I can't say what the early evening top water bite was like.

I hooked up with 9 fish. All fish were in the 2-3lb range and were in the 17in-19in range. All were nice fighting fish.

Others who were out there that day seemed to catch fish in about the same size range that I had been hitting.

Enjoy your trips out there. It's a nice impoundment to fish(as you already know).

Fishing was slow/fair .

Big ones were under 4 Lbs. , most in the 14-17 inch range .

Most were taken close to shore , fishing topwater VERY QUIETLY between the bank and the inside weedline . I got into 'em pretty hard on the second day ..... fishing submerged wood while using my 8 Wt. Craw on an I line . It blew a little the first day , and blew HARD the second .

There are so many tiny (3/4 inch long) baitfish out there , it must be seen to be believed ..........

I had fun ............ !

Hey David
You are right about the bass being full.
I fished a pond the other night and the water would get all ruffled up and then the bass would just crash through the minnow ball. The young of the year looked to be three quarters of an inch to an inch long.
I only got one fish that night. Talk about keying in on a hatch,WOW!

I did get into some top water action, Yesterday.
I went with Capt. Jerry. He had to put on a lot of miles to find warm water. Then it started. Even in the strong wind,he kept the boat in good casting position.
I had so much fun I increased his tip from $1 to $2 LOL!
Thanks for the good day Jerry.

Yes, Sturmer and Larry Lee stuck a few fish, actually Sturmer stuck more than a few. Here's a picture of Sturmer with a fish, Larry with a fish and another fish I picked up in the morning before the two showed up.

The delta's really starting to wake up now. This next week ought to be DY-NA-MITE!

HOLY SMOKES Jerry, I think just one of those toads weighs more than all that was caught at the outing in the delta.
Very nice fish!!!!
