I have some hummingbird feeders in my backyard, so the last few days i have tried to get pictures. It is amazing how close they will let you get.

Some of these were with my 500mm and some others were with my 300mm w/1.4 tc. All of them had an off camera flash that i triggered from my camera's flash.

this anna's hummingbird has been defending his sugar source here in my backyard for a while now...It's great to see him make his rounds...

Bolden your photos are spectacular....

I'll keep tyring...my 200 mm lens makes me feel like I am hunting with a bow instead of a rifle...but then again the challenge lies with getting up close and personal which usually results with missing the photo...but someday I'll hope to have that 200-400mm or 600mm lens...it's fun non the less and I am really getting to know my lens that I am using...

Here is a begining to my bird gallery...http://www.pbase.com/astevecali

It was odd today because the Anna's in the first and last picture didn't get any food because the other hummer (immature Anna's?) was chasing the it away any time it got close.

When i refilled the feeder the Anna's actually came up to me and was going to feed out of my hand, but the other one chased him away.

Hummingbirds are cool little birds.

Bolden,

Another fun thing to do is have two feeders in line of sight but not close (on each side of the yard). The dominate male will go back and forth defending it's nectar source.

Again, very nice shots you got.
