Took my dad to the delta today--launched out of Wimpy's around 10:00.

Around 11:00 I hooked my first striper of the year--somewhere in the vicinity of 8 pounds. :D

Five minutes after releasing that one, hooked a small one--2 or 3 pounds.

Half an hour later, I hooked my first big striper. Man, what a rush that was. (and damn am I glad I upgraded to 20 pound flouro for leader material).

It hit the fly only about 15 feet from the boat and I saw it turn after I set the hook.

It then headed for the bottom in 30 feet of water and did it's best to stay there with my 8-wt bent double.

Fifteen or so minutes later, we got it into the net. :D :D

I'll try and post a picture tomorrow.

No more action after we took a break for lunch, but it was a beautiful day--around 80 degrees and only a light breeze. Water temps were 58 to 60.5 throughout the Moke and North Moke.

I might be hooked on this delta striper thing....
