Too bad no Shad

Two sub-legal Stripers , 1 7-8 LB. Squawfish , and a tail-hooked Sucker . No others fishing , as far as I could see ......

Water's the lowest I've ever seen - super-clear . Fished below Log hole a ways .

That's it !!

Nice size squawfish, I bet that got your blood pumping. I am going to give it a try tomorrow afternoon. I'll let you know if I manage anything.

Not quite , Scott .....

Squawfish don't fight for s--- . At least a Suckerfish will make hard runs ..... Squaws smack the fly and then give up . I don't like 'em much .

A type 5 head found bottom in the deepest runs - try a 4 or an I head  . I doubt the Shad are very far up river , so try low .

Good luck !

Fished secret "log hole" location this afternoon for several hours. Flows were really good. Looks like they're finally letting some water out. No grabs and no other fisherman out there today. Used type 2 and 3 shooting head system with regular shad patterns in white, chartreuse and red combos. Still might be too early. Saw lots of ducks and geese with ducklings and goslings in tow. All in all, a nice day, too bad no shad yet. Perhaps after the weekend warming.
