After work on Sunday, Andy Guibord and I took a ride up hwy 16 to scout the Consumnes River for a smallmouth bass float later this spring.
Andy did a little fishing but felt the water was still a little cold for smallies, maybe high 50s?
Can you fish the Consumnes River?

Access is very difficult because of much private property down here in the Valley for Smallmouth.
We are trying to find a place to put in a canoe, kayak or pontoon boat for a float trip.
Maybe up further above Plymouth/Jackson it is a trout stream and may be more accessible?
It actually dries up down by Hwy 99 later in the summer.
We use to fish it when I was a youngster and I snorkeled it too. Tons of Smallmouth Bass back then at the Latrobe Road crossing. Now all private.
