Does anyone have any tips on spots up over the Sonora pass and into the Bridgeport area. I haven't spent much time that direction and am heading to Bridgeport from Modesto area later on this month. Any tips as to locations, patterns, etc would be appreciated.
Anything regarding camping spots would help too.
Thanks

Call and/or stop by Ken's Sporting Goods when you arrive in Bridgeport...Jim and Co. should be able to get you up to speed on the East Walker. Ken's # is 760.932.7707

Have plenty of small midges, bwo emergers and some stonefly nymphs.

The EW is the only local water open right now...it's open year round now on the CA side...(always has been on the NV side).

If you are coming after the "trout opener" which is Sat. April 26th...then there is a whole slew of good water to check out...albeit it might be a little cold. Twin Lakes is thawed out.

Camping will be very cold at night...but it can be nice during the day...or it could snow :D

Plan on fishing the East Walker if flows allow. Irrigation season should be starting soon. The most critical factor is stable flows. If they are jumping up and down the fishing can be slow.

Dropper-dry or streamers are the way to go on the East Walker.

Forget Sonora pass waters this early in the year. Heck it may not even be open by the time you get here, it's still winter in the mountains.

Have fun,
