Greetings,

I was wondering if anyone here can tell me how this pattern is traditionally tied? I've seen quite a few variants and I understand the basics but I'm curious about the body. Is it usually just tying thread or are you supposed to palmer the butts of the tail and wings up the hook to form the body?

Not a very complicated pattern, just curious how this pattern was originally tied. I've always heard this was an effective fly and I'm planning on adding a few to the box and giving them a try this season.

Thanks.

JD,

The body is stacks of marabou on top and just thread wrapping for the body.
Nothing fancy but very, very effective

Jay

I have the Hal Janssen tape on tying the fly - I think
