Drifted the Trinity in a two man kayak last Monday. Found a cluster of steelhead in a deep, long run. Very Utopic... as we never came across another boat the entire day. Better yet...it was 65 degrees. Responded to a couple fly casters with our bug selection at take out. They seemed surprised that we landed our fish using #14 prince nymphs and #16 pheasant tails. My passenger hooked his first steelhead ever. Although it was a downer...he was thrilled. Before landing this wild buck...I experienced an adrenaline "surge and purge" as a healthy hen spit the hook prior to the net! It was in the 12-14 pound class. Nothing like sticking salties with a 6 wt. Overall...we were 3 for 5. They're up top but things are winding down quickly!

Would like to have seen the pic of that 12-14 pounder. Oh well. That is an exceptional fish for the Trinity. Nice looking fish in the photo as well. It is getting late season is just about over. There's always next year...
