Bill I was wondering if you have any screws for a 1498 medalist early 70's era. I dug it out mothballs and noticed a screw missing. Thanks

There is a great resource for old reels called the classic fly rod forum, it's a yuku board. There is a classic reel section there. If you strike out with Bill post over there, those guys will send you to the right place.

Possible other idea is to pick up a junker on e-bay for the parts.

Best,

-John

Dan,.... I'm sure you've already done this but, just in case you haven't, did you take a look in the bottom of the box where the reel was kept :?: :?: :? :?

You should be able to get screws from 'One Pfoot'.

I believe they went to metric threads in the 1980s?

Yours are old SAE threads.

Shakespeare/Pflueger company quit supplying those screws a long time ago.

Bill Archuleta can make them (there were two styles of screws ....) . He also does a God-like tune-up on Medalists of any vintage ..... I just sent him an old 1495 that I got off Ebay - the guy who sold it to me had used it in saltwater , so it was a bit on the 'furry' side . I broke several screws trying to take it apart and convert it to left hand .

Bill not only replaced the old , powdered screws , but he cleaned it up and tuned it - it is now the sweetest Medalist I've ever had my hands on !!

Onepfoot is back in production now after being semi-closed for quite a while ..... I hope it lasts a long time .

Hope this helps .

David
