Hit a slough in the boat.... (as David Lee says in another post, LOL)

SLOW afternoon, but productive. Got on the water about 12:30 pm, and we registered water temps 55-58 degrees. Not too many boats out, but the wind kicked in and the first hour or so was miserable. Once the wind died down though, the water turned to glass, absolutely beautiful, but chilly.

We were using frogs / bubbleheads, the latter of which was the producing fly. Bubbleheads were yellow/green and black/white.

I caught a 4 lb stripe (my first top-water stripe and the first on the boat!) and 4 lb LMB (Now my biggest, to date :D ).

Paul ended up with a 3 lb LMB towards the end of the afternoon.

This guy liked the yellow/green bubblehead:

This one liked the black/white bubblehead:

I think the bubbleheads are my new favorite fly... sorry froggies :( . We knew we were in the right slough when we saw both Kevin Doran AND Mike Costello drive past in the late afternoon.

All in all, a good day. Paul's a little depressed that he was out-fished by a girl .

But, hey, it was bound to happen sooner or later  .

As he says, he's created a monster 8)

Great Robin & Paul

Thanks for the wonderful post with great pictures.

Hey Bill, mine didn't really look like that... 8) .

Paul must do his own modifications, more stuff at the tail end. But, it works! :D

Paul, what's this that Robin doesn't think she's good enough for the Bass-n-fly tournament. With two fish at 7 pounds, you look pretty good as a team. Now just get Robin to repeat three more times! Let's see, that would be five fish, 19 pounds. Probably at the top of the list!
