Aloha, went to Oahu over the weekend. I got to fish friday afternoon with Louie the Fish and one of his clients. Louie had to split to go play his harmonica, and I ht one of my favorite flats at sunset. The light was too dark to see fish, but I could see tails in the shimmer on the water and got a nice bonefish on my second cast. I had to put the fly right next to the fish, but when they are tailing they are on the feed.
Last weekend I got to go off-shore for the day. We got into some small tuna on the fly.

Nice Shibi, Don! Aloha!

Hope you had a great winter and spring! Steelhead season has been a bit disappointing here this season despite some good rains, but we got plenty of snowpack to support summer!

Is that a Bluewater rod your sporting?
The water looks pretty calm in your pictures. What part of Oahu were you in?
I may be back to the Kohala coast briefly on the first week of July.
Mahalo....

Hi Joe, yup that is the new baby blue TFO. It is a great rod for the smaller species. I was out Hawaii Kai side for that photo, too bad I left the camera in the car when I got the bonefish. Give me a call when you get over here. I am headed to baja in June, but should be around in July. Sorry to hear the stealhead season was slow. We are after some onon this weekend, the big boys are here, over 50lbs. I love fresh ono, take care, Don.
