I am very excited!
I have finally decided which digital SLR to buy............. the Canon 40D SLR.

I gonna use my tax refund money, money gathered from selling some gear in combination with the use of my credit card, it's a complicated financing maneuver but it'll be worth the effort. I have yet to purchase this fine camera, but I am not far away. I am trying to sell some spey gear in our classifieds section to free up some money tied up in another hobby.
I warn you now, I will be posting MORE pictures in the near future! :D

Congratulations on the camera (as long as you don't change your mind), and be sure to post whenever you can.

That's a nice camera. I thought that's what you might be up to when I saw the spey gear for sale! I wish I could help by buying your stuff, but... I need more lenses!!! :D

Thanks SteelieD, I totally understand about needing more lenses, at least the 28-135mm IS lens is a nice lens, especially to get in a kit. That lens will do just fine for a while :-)

Yeah that a good range, you'll do fine with it.
I am just envious of Ben's new lens (and ability! :D ) after trying to capture a few bald eagles a couple of weeks ago!

You two are going down a slippery slope, because once you get seriously hooked into photography you will always want that one extra lens. I have that beautiful sigma 500mm, but i still dream for the nikon 500mm VR.
I now see fishing as a relatively cheap hobby.

Yes, I have just begun down a slippery slope, but at least I'm doing it right
I bought the camera today, I hope to take some landscape shots tomorrow after school. :D

No doubt!

Can't wait to see 'em!
You guys take Bill's advice to heart... love is overrated, especially for gear junkies! Just kidding!

I had a friend who was going to Christmas Island once tell me one lens was $5000 he was just buying for the trip.
I guess you could spend $5000 to $10,000 real fast on a good digital SLR system today.
I have not really gotten into it but see how cool it can be though.
Andy Guibord at the shop has a Canon 20D with lens, Photoshop for PC and an good Epson 11x17 ink-jet printer. He is putting out some interesting stuff.
very nice Adam !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
always something more we need !!!!!!!!

Congratualtions on putting together the finances for your new camera.
Like you, I recently jumped into the DSLR world with a Nikon D40x. I conservatively started out with a fairly priced 18-55 VR to get my 'feet wet'.
Man, I love the DSLR world. I feel the D40x is enough camera for my needs and it's my philosophy from day one that I will put my $$$ towards lenses going forward.
Now that spring has sprung, I already see the need for a longer focal range. :P I may have to part with a few high end reels myself. Shoot, I don't catch many fish these days anyways. :D
I think , slippery slop is a understatement , i think its more like a big black hole , and no bottom in sight .
I have been looking at a canon 5d , but i may wait a year, and i bet i can get one for half the price that they are now . That's what i did when i got my 20d . :D

I like that the canon 10D , 20D, 30D and the 40D have metal bodys and not plastic .. Did not like the lens that came with my 20D though , so i bought the 17-40f4L lens . I also like the feel of a BIG metal camera .
