FYI Every year at this time I try and fish Baum Lake near Burney, California. So yesterday I fished Baum Lake. To my delight the Cassel fish hatchery last week put into the lake 6,500 German Brown trout. The trout range in size from 2 lbs to 6 lbs.

The fun part was catching fish on a dry fly. Size 18 to 20 Pale Morning duns or small black Wolly Buggers. The best way to fish this small lake is from a small boat-pram etc. Float tubing is tough because of the shallow area of the lake. Also good fly casting from shore.

The weather forecast for the next ten days is good weather without any rain. This is a great oportunity for those people who have never caught a fish on a dry.

Burney is sixty miles east of Redding on highway 299.
