Just had a good report from a serious American River winter Steelheader.
From being right here near the river in the fishing tackle business for over 40 years I feel that February is usually a top month for big fish.
Our old friend Gary Warren who guide on the Fall River for was off work one winter many years ago.
He really did well in February because every day he would come by or call me at my shop after fishing in the 1970s and I put it on the calendar daily.
I would fish the from below hatchery (Sailor Bar) and downstream for several miles.
PS: February is a top month for coastal Steelheading too. Depending on the rain.
