What other talents do you have ??

Bluegrassbill is in a band as is my wife Candice . She belongs to a bluegrass band here in Cache valley called Sassafras . Both my boys play the Guitar , Cody on Bass and Jason Electric and acoustic . My beautiful wife can play anything with strings or keys , her main instrument is the Violin . I can do fairly well with a camera , but i am not musically inclined at at !! My kids got that from thier mom . :D

Here is a short clip of Cody on the bass.

Kind of a funny question Rob. You assume we are talented flyfishers. I can't speak for anyone else but I have to tell you, I have no talent at all for flyfishing. Stupid dumb luck is what I have. If I manage a fish it's some sort of miracle. My wife can't carry a tune and I flunked out of band in 7th grade. My dog can almost write his name with a trail of poop, does that count? Ed..........Happy New Year Rob.

Hi,
I think Ed Wahl is probably a better fisher than is says, As for Dustin....I used feel nothing else matterd myself. I lived to Flyfish.
But .....I have found that there is alot more out there. I kinda fell into the doldrums with Flyfishing ( I sell this stuff all day) . When I was off the last thing I wanted to do was go Flyfishing.
This past spring I started doing something I swore I would never do, I went Bass fishing with plastic worms. My Wife (who is is my favorite person to fish with) took to it like a duck to water. We had more fun this past spring and summer and fall than a person has a right to.
Flyfishing has since be rejuvinated in me by a young kid that works with us that is dying to learn how. I have had alot of fun helping him as of late.
So I guess I needed a little break, and someone with unabashed enthusiasum to get me back into the groove so to speak.
I also like to paint, carve decoys and Cowboy action shoot.

I love to fly fish , but i have a few other hobies that i enjoy as much now . I love classical guitar , and would even give up fly fishing if i could only play . But that will never happen , some people are more coordinated than others and i am not of them .

I bet Ed is a awesome( but humble) fly fisher !!!!!!!!!! :)

Decoy carving is quite an art form, good going Bob. Now, you guys are missing the bigger point of my post. Seriously, think about it, a dog that not only knows the alphabet, but can also attempt to put together a word. So far Shadow has only managed to spell out SH, but I figure that's only for lack of "ink". Let me try feeding him a big bowl full of mashed potatoes, I think he might be able to do it. I gotta go now, Bad Bob is coming to town. Ed

I'm a long way from being a 'talented' flyfisher. There are a ton of methodologies I've not even tried and many species I've not fished for to date.

Anyway, I've gotten pretty 'talented' at changing diapers (poopy ones too), giving baths, feeding infants and toddlers, etc. I can also carry toddlers in both arms while tackling a flight of stairs, backwards! Child seat installations are a snap now too.

And, I'm getting those 'eyes' on the back of my head that I swore my Father and Mother had too.

Thank goodness Kiene's in located next door to Goore's Baby Store!

Have a happy New Year Mike, Ed, et al. I hope I actually get to fish in 2008 and perhaps cross paths with a few of you too.

Regards.

Hey Rob,

Pretty cool bass riff there by Cody! The great thing about having music as a hobby to supplement the fishing is that you can almost always always pick up an instrument and play some whereas sometimes it is hard to be able to get out and fish for a number of reasons. Glad you family enjoys music. Do you folks ever come up to Grass Valley for the Fathers Day Bluegrass Festival? If so maybe I would get a chance to jam some with your wife :)

My wife has lots of talents including photography, quilting, cooking, and she is the computer guru for us as well :D .

Love those duck carvings!!!

Best Wishes, hope we can catch up with each other down the road sometime :) .

Hi guys, my name is James, my first post on the board. My wife has the musical talent in our family, as a voice and piano teacher. I took guitar lessons in high school and scared all the neighhood cats and dogs. I found my talent as a painter and wood carver. My favorates are the steelhead.

Guys, thanks for the compliments. I had put my art on the back burner mostly painting until three years ago. I'm working on several more fish and will post some pictures when they are finished.

Besides everyday life?

I participate in GBF, Al-Anon, and Fremont Presbyterian Church events.

Let's see, I like to read books, mostly legal thrillers (just started "The Race" by Richard North Patterson).

I like to crochet (or tie knots, as hubby puts it).

I play pinochle (working on my double deck game).

I LOVE watching Nascar Sprint Cup races, and reading all their news.

And, of course, I have my own favorite night-time soaps... LOL.

That's a girl for ya!

fishing's been kindof back-burnered lately, but I'm beginning to feel the itch again, doing some outings to the beach the last few weeks.

That is some beautiful music Lars, do I hear a hammered dulcimer in the songs. And by the way I am a big fan of the flute, I love how Jethro Tull brought the flute to the rock world. And for those that do not know it, Jethro Tull was the first musician to win a Rock and Roll Emmy award, I think it was a Emmy. He beat out bands like Metallica and other well know metal bands.

Do you by chance participate in Renissance faires?

mike N
02-07-2008, 11:22 AM
Scott,

Jethro Tull is the name of the band, not a person. Ian Anderson is the person. I recall seeing them at UC Berkley a while ago. A spectator was standing in front of Ian Anderson, the flute player extrodinaire, and shouted "Play it Jethro!" The star give him a curious look. What a good show.

I know it is Ian Anderson Mike, I just typed a little to fast, as a matter of fact I have meet Ian and he played Cross Eyed Mary for me in person. That is an experience I will not forget. I was a big enough fan that I was minutes away from getting my back tattoed with the cover of Broadsword and The Beast. Something I am still considering this day.

Right on. So, I guess you weren't the one that said "Play it Jethro?"
