Good luck - I might be heading to the South Fork Eel - they had 101 closed last night due to snow around Willits - calling for 0.5 to 1 inch of rain but if it comes mostly as snow maybe the river won't blow out - it is marginal right now.

My friend Bruce caught a 34" wild fish on Christmas day! Merry Christmas!!!

Rick, if the river holds steady or starts to drop i might see you on the river. I am eyeing it and might just have to make my way over to the coast.

river blew out as of 6:00pm, so my father and one of my buddies are joining me for some blasting

Likewise on the Eel - got up at 4:30 AM to check and the river had gone from just under 1100 cfs to 1600 cfs at Sylvandale - so much for the precipitation coming as snow!! So back to bed I went

Hey Rick,

What flow @ Sylvandale will keep you from going back to bed? I have heard the gear guys like Sylvandale at around 1500 and dropping. Interested to hear your take. Thanks, Matt.

In a pinch I would probably fish those flows but it was still going up and I don't much like fishing a rising river. I like the flow below 8 feet for flyfishing (not exactly sure what cfs that corresponds to)

Thanks Rick!

Looks like we are in for another round of rain starting Thursday. Parts of the Eel system may drop in by Wed.? Maybe Thursday morning?? The Smith should be in great shape, but I am tired of being beaten up by that river. I am not going to go there for a while!

Tough to nail down those "windows" when you live 3.5 hours away and have to work!

The "chase" is really fun though! See you on the river. Matt.
