hello all i have lived in sac for 4 years now and have wondered about the steel head fishing. i was wondering what is a good general set up for fishing the watt and goth park areas
i have a 6-7w rod with a decent drag system on my reel.

is sinking or floating line the way to go, and what are some good ones to go with?

also do you all fish with indicators if so how?

how are your leaders set up?

and lastly i was wondering what are some good flies to use or do you use beads??????

i know this is a lot of info to be giving out, but any information is much appreciated
thanks:

Welcome mano!

I think your setup will be just fine. I prefer a two nymph setup with copper john's, poopah's, birds nest's combos. I also will fish a stimulator with a poopah dropper. I fish a floating line with about 9-12 foot of leader and tippett.

I also will indicator fish with a cj and poopah on floating line.

The key I have found is moving and being flexible. The bottom gets shallow and deep quickly, so indicator fishing takes some work.

I have never pegged beads, so I am not sure on them in the areas you are talking about.

Usually you can find me around the Watt area. Say hi if you come out that way.

Good luck out there!
