Ross Evolution 3.0

had to send two evolutions to ross for repairs, one would free spool and the other had a sticky drag. only two seasons on both reels? has any one else had a problem with these reels?

Mines been purring away for the last 4 (?) years w/o any issues. My Rythm on the other hand had some probs w/ the drag, but Ross took care of it quickly and easily. I fish that one more and bought it used so I'm still impressed with Ross in general.

I rusted out the drag on my CLA-3 due to some salt water fishing, but Ross got it back to me in 7 days. It's been working great since.

Ross Evolution reels are great trout reels, I loved mine, but I sold it to a friend....I miss that reel.

We don't see any come back so they must be holding up pretty well.

All fly reels will fail once and a while.

We don't recommend them for rods larger than a 7 weight because they do not have much drag pressure on the heavy end.

The Evolution 3.5 and Rhythm 3.5 do not have a very strong drag setting so it would not be our choice for an 8 weight system.
