Just got back from a day on the lower Klamath with Bruce - he just got his boat out of the shop and we naturally had to make sure it was working. Hit the river around 7AM Sat - it was drizzly and light rain most of the day but a great day.

Here is Bruce on the river

This is probably my favorite time on the lower river - few boats - we did not see another soul on the river the entire day and the fish are still around

Here is my one adult I brought to hand

We had good fishing - between us we had maybe a dozen half pounders and I managed to hook 2 adults - one came unbuttoned right at the bank. Bruce had 2 adults grab but could not hold on and finally landed a small adult at the last run we tried.

Here are a couple of clips of Bruce fishing - I warn you this is my first attempt at video clips - the first one will get you a bit woozy as I thought I had turned off the camera at the end but did not :? This first is an off shoulder snap C

This next is a snap C

And finally a few more shots of the trip - bruce's boat:

A very fun trip though going back it just poured and was pretty nasty

Loved the videos and the report, Rick.
I'm a spey newbie, so I was curious if there is an advantage to casting off the shoulder snap-C on river right as opposed to double spey, snake roll or double spey loop (aside from the fact that the over the shoulder snap-C is cool as hell to watch and more challenging)?

Joe the advantage is that you keep the line away from being blown into your body possibly hooking yourself instead of the fish! Some people use their other hand on the top of the grip but quite a few cast off their "off" shoulder like you saw in Rick's videos.

Bill - Rod and Mary Ann are in Idaho on a trip so no one at the cabins - you can't imagine how that last storm messed things up - hardly any gravel bar left and the creek has moved downstream and comes out about where the dock used to be! Also saw lots of small gravel and sand washed into runs that used to have big rocks!

Joe - on river right - the two main casts are the double and the snake as you point out but only with a downstream wind. With an upstream wind, if you use those casts you have a good chance of getting hooked as the wind will blow the line into you as Adam points out.

So, If you are totally left hand stupid as I am, rather that casting with left hand up and using a single spey or snap C, I use an off shoulder cast and my favorite is the off-shoulder snap C.

For river left, the two main casts would be the single and the snap C or with a downstream wind, the off-shoulder double or snake roll to keep the line away from you
