went out for some steelies this evening, no bites, but pleasant none the less, i was out for some decompression more than anything, saw alot of large salmon rolling and coming to the surface, are they feeding on something? if so on what? just curious as to what they were doing exactly, looked to me like they were rising to bugs but couldnt really make it out either

They are not feeding. This is the best way I can describe why they are jumping like that:

When the Salmon enter the fresh water, their bodies, which include their brain, start to deteriorate. Its kinda like they are drunk, because brain cells are being destroyed, hence, behavior out of the norm.

Think about it, you never seen cromers jumping in the frog water, only the older fish. These fish you see jumping all about are NOT the fish you should be targeting.

Hope this helps.
