Hello Tony

What's going on up on the Feather River now?

I heard 1 good report within the last day or so. Sounds like fish are in the system in decent #s. :)

With all this talk about not having any salmon in the river a lot of guys just quit coming up. Well, let me tell you that there ARE salmon still coming in, AND there are lots of steelhead under and around them where they're on their redds.

This past weekend our fly club, the E.C. Powell Fly Fishers, had a steelhead trip to the upper river around the the Oroville Wildlife Area and all who came did well. One of our members actually took seven steelhead using standard faire of a glowbug with a nymph trailer. Several salmon were also taken and released which took the some of the standard steelhead flies which were being drifted and swung. Comets, Polar Shrimp, Green Butt Skunks, Signal Lights, and Purple Perils all have been working along with the standard nymphs.

Another interesting story about this part of the Feather has to do with the Forebay and the Afterbay. Trout, really nice trout are on the bite here. Several friends have been doing very well trolling marabou streamers just like they do at Eagle Lake and others places. Maybe they're getting ready for winter, or maybe they're getting ready to spawn too but they are on the bite. One fellow fishing bait last week took an 11 lber. on Power Bait.

So, if you want to save a little driving to the Trinity, it's definitely worth trying the Feather and the Yuba right NOW.
