Web Wing Caddis

I tied up some Web Wing Caddis a while back and finally tried one out this evening on Putah Creek. The fish were hammering the caddis, but the web wing material totally fell apart after a few fish. In the end, the wing looked like wisps of Z-lon. Was this just a fluke, or has anyone else had a similar experience with web wing material? Any suggestions?

On my web wings I will somtimes use softex to coat the wing. But I did pick up a wing burner in a perfect shape to burn them with. I haven't fished with the new burnt wing yet but they look like they wont frey like they somtimes do. Just a thought.
