If you fish for Winter Steelhead on the American, I need your help! I am currently in the process of writing an article about the ethical issues related to fishing in or around Steelhead spawning beds. As you know a large number of Winter Steelhead fishermen fish in the vicinity of reds but some of you are definitely against fishing anywhere near reds, some feel that it is OK to fish just behind reds, some feel that it is OK to fish for males behind spawning hens and some feel that it is OK to actually fish for the spawning hens on reds. I really need to know what you think. Either reply directly to this post on the message board, or if you would like to remain anonymous feel free to email me at info@sierrapac.com. I really appreciate your help.

Search for past threads, there was one a few months ago that REALLY went off (70+ posts I think). Should find all of your information there!
I think it was something like, "should we fish for downstreamers"8)
As for trying to bring up this topic again, probably not a good idea..

No problem. I searched for it to make sure you could find it with keyword "downstreamer". You can, 105 replies! It was a monster.

I loved it when the bears got after folks who walked through reds in Alaska. Yeah, there are "tons" of fish there, but it is still no reason to be inconsiderate and walk on through. I relished the bears harassment of the guys, when they walked through the bears favorite spot. But then again, the bears walk through the reds don't they?
We don't have many bears wondering through our rivers much anymore, but there sure are a ton of anglers on the reds. I try and stay out of them, or washing silt downstream on the reds I can, and cant see. I am a good fisherman, I should know where the reds are. But I admit, the fish that hang out there, chewing the rears off of each other to get eggs, are irresistible to ignore. It's conflicting...
