DUCK hunters and float tubes don't mix, but if you can find a quiet cove on the east side of the Lake next to some deep water, with some weed beds, you can have some geat fall fishing. With a intermediate line, black leach or a stillwater nymph, and a long cast you will find some holdover trout right under the surface. The time to fish is when the hatch of midges, and callibaetis start hatching around 10am-1pm. 8)

I've float tube fly fished Frenchman throughout the year and the years since 1994. Yep, there are duck hunters there, but in all this time I have never had anything close to an incident or accident with the hunters. Frankly, during the warmer months, the lake lice are more of an issue than the hunters have ever been. Another consideration is that the hunters are usually off the lake and shoreline by 9am or so, and Frenchman being what it is and where it is, you won't have much company on the water. Frenchman is a terrific put and take fishery with beautiful rainbows that average 15" or more. You'll probably get to watch both the Osprey and the Bald Eagles hunting during the day. Good advice on the productive fishing techniques too Gene.
