HEY WHAT UP?
Im a student at Davis Law School, I was walking to my local Jack in the Box and saw on the front page of the Davis Enterprise two guys fishing on Putah Creek below the dam on todays issue. It was an article re: habitat resoration etc.. not tooo much on fishing.

I saw the other post from September regarding Putah creek, I was wondering if anyone has been out there lately? If so I was looking for general informaiton, for fishing below salon dam, like what to use etc.
Thanks a Million
Cid

October is a great time to fish Putah. Jump in with caddis poopah, Micro may or zebra midge and hang on! Paul

You asked about the fishing below Solano Dam, but the most popular spot is above Solano Dam, actually above Lake Solano. This section of creek below Monticello Dam is not very long. It can get crowded, especially in the winter after trout season closes (you can still fish outside of trout season, but there are special regulations). There is actually a forum for Putah Creek. Here is the address:

And if you're going to fish Putah, be sure to CLEAN YOUR GEAR!

Better yet, just avoid it altogether...

I agree. Everyone should avoid Putah. The fishing's not very good anyway.

What about all of the people talking about their days with a dozen trout over 20" caught? My impression was that Putah is a decent fishery, guess I was mistaken? :?

I think jahqeutt is talking about "Futah Creek" which is 100 miles northeast. Putah Creek is a horrible spot.

Thank you Nip and JT, The rod is a Mike Brooks Payne 100. The little monster took an 18 BWO, jumped 3 times and fought like a tiger. I had to get a picture. Paul

Y'all are a buncha liars, steering potential Lawyer the wrong direction? you should be ashamed. I think this is the typical Putah Creek 'bow...maybe on the small side when compared to the ones I've caught.

From the ncffb website....I think he got it in the riffle above the first island.

That is not a typical October Putah bow!!!!!!!! Looks more like a December fish.
By the way I was up there today and things are pretty slow and low. The water is very clear And the fish are spooky. I'd tell you that I didn't catch any thing but at this point I don't think anyone is going to belive it. Paul
