Just got back from Dunsmuir with the fella's. 4 days of fishing in the most beautiful water with Mt. Shasta as a backdrop. Most of the fish were taken high-sticking it. Sometimes single fly, but most of the time I doubled it up with a little shot.
Day 1--Upper Sac
Hit some water near Sims. PMD's and PT's were the ticket. Didn't see a ton of October caddis action.
Day 2---Upper McCloud
Fished upstream and downstream of Lower Falls. 18 fish to hand. Anywhere from 10-16 inch fish. Anything green was the ticket.
Day 3---Squaw Creek
Got to be in shape for this one. The hike is almost too much for this mini McCloud creek. Only two fish, both on PT's. The water was very low.
Day 4---Upper Sac
Hit Mossbrae to the Scarlett Bridge. 1 chunky fish under the falls and a couple more on the way back to the car. Green Poopah and PT's
I would give it a week or two and it should be pretty incredible. Can wait to go back next year.
