Adam: The Middle Rogue in the Grants Pass area is dead. Worst I have seen in my six years here. Both for steelhead and salmon. Behind the house I have yet to see a single salmon roll and that usually starts the first week on September. Started fishing back of the house about three weeks ago and have not touched a fish. Normally by now I would have hooked 6-9 fish. Went wade fishing yesterday morning & zip. The count over Gold Ray Dam is about 55% of a normal year. Conditions are perfect. They have been lowering the Rogue 100 cfs/day and now to about 1,300 cfs and the water temperature is 59. Moving next Tuesday so may be out of commission for a few days. Have not lost my fishing privileges as the new owner will let me keep my pram here permanently. Historically I have done my very best on the Middle Rogue from mid-Oct until heavy rains in very late November.
