waht would you reccomend, i was thinking about a multi tip system, and i am going to be fishing some pretty hefty rivers this winter, so i am not sure exactly what system to use.
any pointers appreciated,

Give the exact specs of the rod and the type of fishing you mostly intend to do and I think someone here can advise you on a good line marriage for that rod. Puting the right line on it is galacticaly important for the rod to perform.

Nice settup!

i am going to be doing a dredging style, floating running line preferably, and i am going to be swinging big flies in big water at various depths. Rod i an 8/9, 12' 6", the shorter lenghth makes it an absolute cannon.

Throw a monic .030 floating running line on a 600 skagit and your set.

Do what Aaron says, do not pass "go" or collect $200. Just add a 10' hunks of T8 and a 10' hunk of t14, or a type 3 and a type 6 15' head, and you are set.

You may also want to get a skagit floater too. I prefer to catch steelhead on a floating line and waking or unweighted flies. Once you taste some success with a sink-tip give the floater a try. It will blow your mind.
