That hat appears to be a mystical "fish magnet". Everytime I see a picture of him in his hat he has some awesome fish trying to hog the camera. :)

That hat looks a lot like a Sunday Afternoon Hat. I have two and they are GREAT!!!! Loads of sun blocking and extremely light and comfortable.
