View Full Version : It's Fall Steelheading time right now!

Sept/Oct/Nov are the months where you can catch Steelhead on a fly more easily because the water is not too cold yet.

October is my favorite month in Nor Cal.

The Klamath, Trinity and Rogue are fairly close and just getting going now. October is big on these rivers.

Further north is the Umpqua, Grand Ronde and Deschutes. October is big on them as well.

Many of our Nor Cal Valley rivers have some Steelhead arriving now, mostly smaller Halfpounders, along with the Fall King Salmon runs.

Most fly anglers fish early and late in the day with the early Fall's warmer weather.

We have a nice run of Halfpounders around 18 inches long in the Lower American River right now.

October is not too cool or too hot, it's just right.

Go for it................
