Hey Bill,

Well the first first day is over and the fishing on the Skeena was great! Brought 3 Steelhead in all around 10 lbs, lost one really nice one, landed a few silvers and sockeye.

One guy landed his first Steelhead ever around 10lbs and lost on that was easily 20 lbs that went well over 100 yards screaming into his backing within a few seconds.

Its amazing how many fish there are traveling up the Skeena.

A few guys fished the Kalum and Cranberry... very slow.

Great trip so far.

See ya later, Jeff

Yes Adam,

I just emailed him back to take lots of pictures.

Jeff is pretty good about that now.

This could be that trip of a lifetime?

Way to go Jeff!!!
The lower Skeena and tributaries and Kitimat and other local streams remain one of the best places for steelhead and Pacific salmon species.
We talk so much about the decline of the fishing in these and other watersheds but this remains one of the best bets globally.
Dustin and his highly talented guide staff can get you into 'em!
And that is exactly why I am going in April and August/September, 2008!

Well its been a good time here at Nicholas Dean. Overall the fishing has been slow for most on the trip.

I fished about 2.5 days and brought 7 Steelhead to the bank from 10-16lbs. Today I landed a 12 lb and 16 lb Steelhead in the first hour. The 16 pounder ripped me a new one!

Dustin took us out today, had a great time. I also landed bull trout, coho and sockeye, what a variety! See you guys next week.

Take care, Jeff

Nice looking fish Jeff. That is officially a "Chrome Steelhead". That big river and your spey casting skills are probably a great match.

Great fish Jeff - curious if you are hooking the fish out in the river or close in on the Skeena? When we were up there in the spring, most of the fish were within 30 feet or so off the bank in quite shallow water.
