Matt now lives in Los Molinos, CA almost on the Sacramento River.

This is a photo of his 14' Tuffy fiberglass tri-hull boat on the life at Grimes, CA.

It has a tiller 30hp Merc and is a really cool fly fishing skiff.

I think Matt added a front casting deck to it.

Hey Bill,

I just noticed the post. Thanks for sharing the picture, I love it!

Seeing your boat on the sling at Grimes is a surreal experience. Boats are supposed to be on the water, not in the air! The levee at Grimes is really high too, something like 40-50' off the water? Your boat is way up in the air.

I must admit that it is rather stressful seeing your "baby" in such a situation.

Nevertheless, the sling works great, and only costs $10 bucks. I believe it takes boats up to 21'. There is also a weight restriction. The operator will typically just eyeball your rig and either pick you up or send you on your way. It puts you onto a bunch of nice water when the spring stripers are in the area. The nearest "regular" launch is at Wards. However, you need a fast boat to make this a vaiable option for fishing the water around Grimes. The only problem with the Grimes sling is that it doesn't open till 6:30am and closes at 7:00pm. :( Not so good for the dark to dark patrol. Matt.
