I'll be heading to Denver Friday morning for yet another of my wife's relatives weddings. I found this great site which advertises and lets you book private sections of stream on-line. The prices are incredible. The cheapest is $35 per rod (max 2 rods per day) and the others are mostly $50 per rod per day (3 rods max). The areas where the streams are is approx 80 miles s/w of Denver and easy to access. I have the 1.7 mile section of Fourmile Creek reserved for Saturday for me and one of my wife's relatives. Hopefully it won't be raining and I'll be able to post some pics of the fishing and properties.

The private water I fished up there never lived up to the hype; a lot of times the fish were straight out of the hatchery. I preferred the wild fish from the Big Thompson and N/S platte which are of course free.

This time of year Fourmile is a trickle.

Let us know how it goes.

I'll let you know if it lives up to its hype. I don't have much time (only one day) to fish and didn't want to just hit the public areas and hope I got lucky. With these prices, how could I go wrong on Labor Day weekend? At least I won't be jockying for position with the masses. I leave tomorrow morning and will hopefully post some pics from Denver Saturday evening.

Cheers!

Spam tastes best fried I think. Seen this exact post on several other sites.

Sounds like fun. I'll be in Denver this winter and if we don't make a run to NM and the San Juan, I may have to check it out! Did you take any pix?

Let me start off by telling Blane I have no interest and receive nothing from the city of Fairplay Co. for posting the fine fishing opportunity I put up the other day. It's a public/private partnership run by the county parks superintendant (read it on their website). Blane, I post at a few sites in several states that I fish. One only needs to read ones profile to tell if it's spam or not.

I returned from the Denver trip today. Only fished from 9 am till 1210. Caught 9-10 rainbows and one brown. All were between 12"-16" except a small brown caught on a PT. The rest were caught using a stimulator. My relative caught 15-16 fish with about a third of his catch over 18". All were rainbows, some were planters, most appeared to be wild. Keep in mind, this creek and the Tarryall feed into the Platte and Spiney Res.

Not bad for 3 hours on a small creek which we had to ourselves for only $35 per rod. I'd highly recommend it to anyone travelling to Denver who does not have the time to scout for public access (too much private property) nor the time to partake in a guided trip.

Me at 9700' on the creek Labor Day Weekend! Crowds???

That looks like a cool, yet small trout stream.

Was that a thanks for the photobucket suggestion?

Nice pics, Sarge. Little water + nobody else + nice trout = sweet. Did you use the Hardy? 8)

Naw, used a 5 piece 3/4 wt travel rod (Sierra Classic) w/ JRyall reel. The Hardy has a 5 wt line and is on the 3 pc Winston. The 3/4 wt was perfect for this lil creek and the rod fit in my luggage. No airline hassles.

Cheers!
