I woke up thismorning and saw the heavy overcast and 66 degrees. I though about calling my boss to ask for the day off...being self employed, I decided to forego the phonecall :D

I started on the middle rogue swinging flies for the first 1 1/2 hrs. I went thru my favorite run 3 times with 3 different flies. I could not believe how perfect the morning looked. I was pretty disapointed to not even feel the slightest tug.

I scampered up the bank and headed for the upper river. I was still set up with the sink tip and wet fly so I started off swinging in one of my favorite nymph holes. I fished it pretty thuroughly without a touch.

I decided to rig up for nymphing.

I rolled it out to the slot and let it drift through. A perfect drift. nothing! With the sense for swinging still in my mind, I let the nymph rig swing out for a moment. THWACK!!! This steelhead felt like it hit at full speed on its way downstream! A memmorable "grab" indeed.

I liked the pictures I've seen you guys take like this first one. Mines kinda weak but here it is.

I hate the way spey rods/reels make fish look smaller  :D

Very nice Jay. Well done! I really like the first pic of the bent rod in hand. Hopefully the fishing is starting to pick up your way!
