Was up there last Friday. Don't bother. Very low and warm. Caught a few, but really worked for them. I'd try downstream from Whitehall, just south of Kyburz on the south fork.

For dries: elk hair caddis and stimulators,,,both #16, 18's

Nymphs: pt's / hairs ear / princes, something tan-yellowish,,,,again small,,,16-18's.

Good Luck!

I think it would have been very good in June this summer.

Maybe even May with the low snow pack.

Seems like many streams have a 4 to 6 week window in the spring/summer when the water has finally gotten lowered from the snow melt and warming to 55 degrees. Then in about 4 to 6 weeks it can be getting very low and clear with most of the larger insect already hatched and gone.

Not that mid-summer is not good it is just harder for most.

I feel my job is to send people up to any fishery at prime time so they can really have a chance to catch something.

Water temps will tell you quit a bit too. 55-65 degrees is really good.

If a stream has any water in it then October can also be very good.
