"Just returned from Union Valley. The trout are stacked up and the smallmouth are biting if you can find them. Fortunately I was able to located the school of trout and landed 19" 5lb smallmouth bass while fishing with a 5wt rod, floating line and 5lb tippet with a crystal brown woolie bugger. I was casting from the shoreline, due to the fishing were out about 20'. Early morning around 6am-8am and evening 6pm to 8pm seemed to be the best times with flies. I using intermidate sinking line in the evenings with a #18 pheasanttail or egg patterns. Landed over 30, caught and released during the 2 days I was there, the baiters were not catching as fast, but they were catching."
