I put the jet boat in and ran the lower river yesterday for the first time this year. I am always amazed when the boat starts right up after sitting all winter and most of the summer.

Fished just one run, no fish, but there were several dead smolts and I counted four dead salmon during the day.

Most of the feeder creeks are still running on the surface into the main river so the river will still drop quite a bit.

Have heard reports that there are some fish in the estuary.

Bruce, is there going to be another big salmn kill again from high water temps? I have heard the temps are pretty high already. Looking forward to hopefully a good fall of steelhead fishing.

Jason, I have no way of telling if there will be a die off again. Way too many factors, but the conditions are set up for it. I do not know why the fish come back into the river when the water temps are so high, but that is a common occurance. Will have to wait and see.

The water temperature in the Lower Rogue and Klamath was running around 76F a couple of days ago. It will be interesting to see what happens this Fall. I hope the winter flush was enough to help prevent any problems.

Bruce - which run did you fish? How are your casting skills after our long break since NDL??

Don is heading up to McCoy this week to check it out. We leave in 2 weeks for Silver Creek. See you on the river maybe late August early Sept

RJ, ran the boat down to Starwinn and fished from the island. I used a single handed rod for old times sake.
Don e-mailed me regarding McCoy, interested how he did. Silver Creek? Does Bonney ask you for id when you come in the door?
