Today I decided to go fishing early and try to harass some smallies in one of our local creeks. I used a rubber legged wooly bugger thing that slayed many small smallies about 4-6", I even caught about 8 or so smallies larger than average in the 7-9" range which were a lot of fun, here's a few pictures:

I even got lucky and caught one about 11" which is very large for this little creek.

Needless to say, I had a very enjoyable morning. If you guys need a quick fish fix check out some of your own local streams and make sure to bring some buggers.

Beautiful fish Adam, the coloration and spotting on smallies is very cool. I had a fun time catching a few in Mike's backyard earlier this year!

Speaking of my back yard, there was a mountain lion sighting right behind my house, keep your eyes open you Cache Creek explorers!

Mike you better keep Dog Boy on lock down, from what I've seen he'd want to play with the big kitty :D

I am planning on making another trip to catch some more smallies tomorrow. I thought that I'd share my simple smallie fly for you guys, in case you want to try something like it for your own smallie fishing.

This fly is the light olive color, I normally use a normal olive color.

These smallies like a slow bottom crawling fly so I used the dumbbell eyes to make the hook point ride upside down so that I can drag or bounce the fly off of the bottom without dulling the point or snagging the bottom.

Hopefully I'll catch some of the bigger smallies like I did last time.

David, I was taught by Hogan how these fish want their flies, it shocked me but it works. I have fished flies in the surface, poppers and dries, I've stripped streamers higher in the water column with very limited results. It wasn't until I watched and listen to Hogan that I began to catch more fish. I will give you and your technique the benefit of the doubt.........but since you have never fished this piece of water you might want to trust me on my approach to fishing this creek.

The rest of this post has been deleted due to my response to David's recommendations would have been more appropriately sent through a PM instead of on the board. - Sorry
