US50 Pitstop?

Greetings everyone,
I'm going to be heading to the Placerville area from Reno for Independence Day and I've been granted permission to make a stop along the way for a little fishing. Can anyone point me at a location that is (big dream here) 1)easily accessible 2)relatively unused and 3)thick with giant hungry undescriminating trout? I know it's a lot to ask but I figured if I'm already asking.....

I'm kinda expecting that any locations will be on US50 from Tahoe on west but if there's someplace that I'm missing, please let me know.

The Silver Fork American River can be fun. It's right off of US-50 at Kyburz. I camped and fished there in the beginning of the week. I landed quite a few fish, all browns and all on dries. The bigger fish are further from easily accessed areas, though.
